Welcome to the Central & Northern Wisconsin Awana Web Site

Missionaries Roy & Betty Koopman

Welcome to our website. The purpose of this web site is to provide information to churches in the Central & Northern Wisconsin region for use in their Awana Ministries.
Awana missionaries assist churches in reaching boys And girls with the Gospel of Christ by introducing churches to the Awana program, training Awana leaders and other children's ministry workers and coordinating events throughout the region. This Web site brings together resources and information to help the missionaries and the churches in the area to run their Awana Clubs ministry more effectively.  Any club may participate in events in either Northern or Southern Wisconsin.  Ministry teams are available assisting the missionaries in training and events.

Check out Wisconsin Awana Grand Prix it will blow you away

logoAwana Grand Prix: Clubbers, Start Your Enginespix of gp

The Awana Grand Prix is a Pinewood Derby-style outreach event founded in 1964 to draw fathers to club to hear the gospel message. Approximately 200,000 boys and girls compete annually in more than 5,000 Grand Prix events nationwide.

Here in N. Wisconsin 40% of our churches do a Grand Prix.  (Better than the national average)
We are here to help you make this one of your church’s best parent outreach program.  So we are equipped with 2 tracks which include banner line detector, some decorative table clothes etc.
One of the tracks you are able to borrow no charge, just call and we can work out the delivery or meet together to get it to you.
One of the tracks comes with one of our Ministry Team couples, Daniel & Rhonda Foemmel.  They have all the highest tech equipment.  You need to check this one out!  They will come to your church, set up the track, computer, digital projector, pa system & let you use the banners and table clothes.  All cars will run down the track four times once down each of the four lanes, the computer will time them to the 1,000th of a second on all four lanes while projecting your clubber’s name, car name, car number, placing, time to the 1,000th of a second, and MPH down the track.  (MPH is actual X 20 for scale size of cars – most cars run 180 to 200 MPH) this is exciting to see.  All you as a commander need to do here is purchase the trophies and car kits, sell the cars and promote the race and plan on a Gospel presentation as parents will be there to see that car run.  Of course you need to book the track too.  Plan early for next club year!

Grand Prix

The Awana Grand Prix is a family-oriented affair that allows clubbers to express their ingenuity by creating and racing their own wooden Grand Prix cars while enabling clubs to share God's plan of salvation with clubbers' unsaved family members by attracting them to a fun event involving their child. Many clubs include a special race for parents and leaders caught up in the excitement of crafting their own cars. Grand Prix events usually last about two hours or the equivalent of one club meeting.

Weeks before the race, clubbers purchase small pine blocks of wood and plastic wheels from which they construct their cars, usually with the help of a parent or leader. Many churches also offer a “Grand Prix Construction Workshop” to help beginners and those not mechanically gifted.

The cars race on a wooden four-lane track. Awards are given for both design and speed. Clubs award first-, second- and third-place trophies for each category. Each clubber who participates also receives a ribbon.

The Grand Prix provides a challenging, stimulating change in the club year that can draw children back after holidays or a drop in attendance. Children’s parents also get involved and the gospel is presented after check-in but prior to races so unsaved family members hear God’s plan of salvation clearly presented. The Awana Grand Prix is not only a fun activity but a powerful tool for reaching unsaved dads.
